Co-design session by PATTERN and European Citizen Science Academy

On March 25th from 15:00 to 17:00 CET PATTERN and European Citizen Science (ECS) Academy are organising a joint session with the objective to develop an introductory course on citizen science through project-based learning.
During the session, practitioners are invited to contribute to the co-design of the project-based learning course. The course will be an integral part of the ECS Academy and an open-source training.
Agenda
- Welcome (Icebreaker)
- Introduction to the overall aim of the session
- Overview of project-based learning
- Introduction to the Pattern Citizen Science course, including its design rationale, context, and development timeline.
- Breakout rooms focusing on various learning objectives:
- Understanding how Citizen Science can be relevant to research objectives
- Exploring the role of Citizen Science in societal impact and change
- Understanding the role of Citizen Science within the broader context of Open Science
- Identifying and discussing selected Citizen Science projects in participants’ fields of interest, including levels of participation and the ten principles of Citizen Science
- Equipping learners with practical tools and resources to navigate their Citizen Science journey
